Bostonians are simple sport cabin planes Limited by AMA Rules to 50 square inch wings, and requiring a cabin of a designated size. They are usually flown indoors, and must take off from the floor. I designed this one using Turbo CAD. It flew fairly well when first built. I have flown it in Bong Eagles' meets at Racine's Memorial Hall. The airframe weighs 12.5 grams with nose weight added, and total weight is 14.5 grams with 2 grams of rubber. This is heavier than the 9 gram minimum weight set by AMA rules. It was built in 2011.

There are lighter, more fragile designs, but mine meets the "West Coast" rules used by Marin County fliers. Wing Area is 44 square inches. The length from propeller hook to the rear peg holding the rubber motor is 10.2 inches. The 6 inch diameter propeller is home made with blades cut from a 2 L soft drink bottle. It is turned by a 13 inch loop (2 strands) of 1/8 inch wide rubber. Winding to 1100 turns gives climb to the upper tier of Racine's Memorial Hall, and flight times of 60 to 70 seconds.
